Yuck! Found a spider in the chili sauce on my burrito. I called to let them know and she (the manager) was the nastiest person and so rude. I was even calm and nice about the situation… she said (yelled) they don’t have spiders and hung up on me. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. “Ew” describes the food and management at this filthy dump.

just ordered green chile fries & a bean navajo taco. both were the soggiest meals i have ever had. the beans in the the navajo taco were some of the worst i’ve ever tasted. everything else had no flavor. i don’t think i’ve ever had to put salt on mexican food until today. threw most of it out, and thats coming from someone who never wastes food. sad to say this, but next time i’ll go to taco bell for better taste at a quarter of the price.

After reading about the food and service I thought I try it for myself. I went in on a Thursday after noon and ordered a stuffed sopapilla with their famous 1/2 & 1/2 green chile. I was indulged by the great taste the green chile left in my mouth. The food was served very hot and the service was great. I have been in Fort Collins for 5 years and have eaten at their old location before it closed. I have eaten at old and the newer Mexican restaurants that have opened in town and by far this one has the best food & green chile in FTC. The sopapilla was portioned perfect for the price( I even had enough for a to go box). I was curious if Consuelo was still part of the business. I was told by an employee that the restaurant was under new management as of 6 weeks ago by Consuelo’s son and daughter in-law and that Consuelo is still part of the business. I will definitely be back and I’m glad I don’t always believe what I read. P.S. Their breakfast burritos are still the best in town.

I am giving this rating based on the HORRIBLE service, not on the food (which I actually like). Today was my last visit to Consuelo’s Express. Every time I go to the drive-thru, it is painfully slow. I sat in line today, no cars moving, for over 20 minutes. I finally shut my car off and went inside to ask what the holdup was. There on the ledge by the window were three meals, bagged and ready to go, just sitting there, while the workers tried to get their act together. When I got back to work, my order was wrong! How hard is it to mess up a bean and cheese burrito? If you’re going to have a drive-thru and you know lunchtime is busy, then hire competent people to serve your guests.

I’m giving two stars because I’ve loved Consuelo’s for years, since its original location in Campus West. The food has always been good, the service friendly, and the restaurant clean. Well, things have changed. The woman running the register was in a dither when we went in because she had lost an order, There was a vehicle waiting and the kitchen staff was angry about the misplaced order. So, we waited while they sorted it out. The woman had extremely dirty fingernails, I noticed, but I didn’t think much of it since she was on the register and handling money.

When our food finally arrived (service was slow), this same woman took my son’s burrito plate to the bus tubs over the trashcan and “cleaned off” some excess chili from the plate with her finger! My husband called her on it (we were in shock), and she said she only touched “under the plate,” but I clearly saw her finger pulling excess chili off of the top of my son’s plate. Yuck! They also mixed up the burrito fillings in relation to the hotness of chili we ordered and forgot some toppings.

When I went back to the counter for the toppings, the woman was animatedly telling the story to the unimpressed kitchen staff. I explained to the woman that people’s hands have germs on them, especially if they handle money, and they shouldn’t put their fingers in people’s food. She looked baffled. Then, incredibly, my son observed her rush to lock the door before the next group of patrons got to it from outside (three hours from closing time). Her co-worker explained that she couldn’t lock the door on customers during business hours. She then unlocked the door.

Sigh. It’s sad how one employee can go a long way toward ruining a business. I hope the owners get better staff in there. Their food is still good.

Went to Consuelo’s Express website and could not find their hours of operation anywhere. The yelp site said Consuelo’s was open till 9 PM on Saturday and Sunday. We went there at 4:45 PM. We were told the dining area was closed and that the door should have been locked. We went to Matador’s on LeMay and had a great meal at a great price. When they were on Elizabeth it was my favorite restaurant in FC. Needless to say, it is not anymore.

Great place to get some quality Mexican food fast and reasonably priced. I stop there anytime I am in the neighborhood. Great little place.

I got sick after eating here. Not sure if the food was undercooked or contaminated, but I spent the rest of the night in the bathroom. Not a good experience. Having said that, their Horchata was very good.

Wow I was just verbally accosted by the supposed manager of this establishment. After screwing up my mothers order we were granted a credit for a missing item. We went there a few days later, spent more money and asked for our credit. We were treated extremely rudely as if their mistake was our fault. The manager, a hideous woman named June went so far as to claim we were making the whole thing up…I’ve never been treated so badly and we will not return unless the staff changes.
