Famous Dave's

It looks good from outside, and it sounds like a good idea, but somehow they just blew it. I was completely unimpressed by far too fatty beef brisket and hard chicken on cold uninteresting sesame buns. The sausage was nice, with a great texture to both the meat and the casing, but the bun killed it as a sandwich. Pulled pork was also flavorful, but it was so soft that it was almost pured making it impossible to absorb extra BBQ sauce.
Only tried three sides. Mac and cheese was reported to be lackluster (I didn't try it myself). Drunken apples were OK. But by far the gravest travesty was the mashed sweet potatoes. I will never understand why anyone would try to make sweet potatoes taste salty...and I don't want to know how much salt that takes. They looked great and appeared to baked in individual portions with a nice soft crust on top. Great start, but why salt something to death that is delicious when you do nothing to them?
Also the sweet tea is essentially a cold simple syrup. I expected sweet, but they forgot the tea.
Even with all that, the sauces on the table were mostly really good and even worth the time and money to buy and bring home, with the exception of the mustard version, which while great at first leaves a very unpleasant aftertaste.
Let me know when they learn how to do real BBQ. Just set out some smoky, seasoned meat, a toasted, good quality bun, and let me sauce it up for myself.

I was hesitant to try this place because it is a chain. I normally don't enjoy chain restaurants, especially BBQ, but I have to say this is my new favorite restaurant in Fort Collins! The service was as good as I have had in a long time, and the smoky flavor of the pork, paired with the sauce was unbelievable. I am glad I let my guard down and tried this place.

When reading the reviews for Famous Daves I really should have taken in consideration that the first person was from Minnesota. What do those people know about BBQ? Apparently nothing. It was like every other chain restraunt, average. The only real BBQ I have found in this state is Sam Taylors in Denver, now that is some good @$%#.

I am from Minnesota (where Famous Dave's started). I was so excited when Famous Dave's opened off of highway 7 and I-25. We stopped there often when going to or coming from Denver. So when they opened here in Fort Collins, you KNOW I was ecstatic!!!
We went out and they did not disappoint! Still the best BBQ ever and love the choices of sauce. I can't say enough good things about this place. It's a party in your mouth.

This is great BBQ they have over 400 awards, tons of choices and plenty of food. I recommend getting a feast that way you can get a taste of everything!
