My husband, two daughters and myself tried Five Guys last night for the first time. We've heard how good it was from other friends so we decided to give it a try. I like the variety of toppings they offer and the burger is a classic drive-in style greasy burger with generous toppings. They are very generous on their fries as well. It IS a little pricey compared to other fast food joints. For those people above who are bitching about the caloric intake and nutrition, NO it isn't light, healthy/vegetarian and doesn't have exotic style food, Just a delicous classic burger joint!
I think prices are very reasonable. Go for the little and share fries. People eat too many fries with their meals anyway (they shouldn't be 1/2 your caloric intake!). Fed 5 people for less than $35. Everyone had a drink and we had too many fries!
I've been to the Five Guys by the Super Target numerous times and I haven't been disappointed yet. This is as close as you're going to get, as far as fast food goes, to a house burger. The prices seem a bit on the high side to me, unlike other reviewers, but it's worth it when you get your meal. The fries are the best in town - bar none - and I always order the regular size because there's enough for two people to split. The hot dogs are butterflied (split down the middle) and are just as delicious as the burger and fries are. It's easy to see why Five Guys is opening hundreds of restaurants across the country after you've tried their food. For no real reason, here are my top five fast food burger joints in town (in order):
1) Five Guys
2) Culver's
3) Smash Burger
4) Carl's Jr.
5) Sonic
The food is fairly inexpensive for what it is, but there are far better burger joints in this town. My burger was overdone and if it weren't for the toppings would have been mostly tasteless. My fries were horrible, they were far over done and had a strong burnt taste to them.
It's a fairly inexpensive burger and fries combo joint, but the burger and fries may not necessarily be worth the cost.
Hopefully your experience is better than mine, I have heard the 5 guys on Elizabeth is far better than the one near Target, but I am not about to rush out to try it after my bad experience at this one.
I disagree about the overpriced comment earlier. I believe Five Guys offers good burgers at a very good price. The "little" burgers are just about right for me (1 meat patty - the regular hamburgers have 2 meat patties). The 1-patty "little" cheeseburger is under $4 and you can add several toppings at no extra charge. Great fries - regular size will feed a few people. Hot dogs are good, too. Menu is pretty basic - burgers, hotdogs and fries. We can feed a family of 4 for about $20 - not bad for "home cooked" tasting burgers and fries.
The food is pretty good for being kinda fast food but is over priced and over hyped. Try culver's if you want an on-par burger for half the price. If you want a really good burger try the island grill. breaks down to the same price but is some of the best in town.
